Phenol Red Indicator

Chemco Science offers Phenol red is a pH indicator 15ml and 25ml Bottles, It is typically used in cell culture media to monitor pH changes and can also be used in various other applications. 

• Color Change:

  Phenol red transitions from yellow to red across a pH range of 6.8 to 8.2. It will be yellow at a pH of 6.4 or lower and red at a pH of 8.2 or higher. Above pH 8.2, it turns a bright pink color. 

• Applications:

  • Cell Culture: It's a standard pH indicator in cell culture media, indicating changes in pH in the culture. 

  • Monitoring pH in Microorganisms: It's commonly used in microbiological work, alongside bromcresol purple, to monitor pH changes in solutions. 

  • Water Quality: Phenol red is used in water testing to determine the pH of neutral and slightly alkaline waters in the range of 6.5 to 8.5 units.
